Waiters carry trays, plates and drinks. They cannot always check a phone. That is why smartwatch alerts for waiters are a practical upgrade for any busy venue.
Why Wearable Alerts Make Sense
A phone in a pocket may ring unnoticed in a loud room, and a waiter with full hands can’t unlock a screen. A watch or bracelet on the wrist solves both: the alert arrives as a vibration, and the caller shows on a small screen.
How It Works With iRestaurante
The iResWaiter app can send alerts to a smartwatch or smart bracelet connected by Bluetooth to the waiter’s phone. The device needs to be able to receive notifications. Each alert shows who is calling, for example Table 6 or Kitchen, so the waiter knows where to go without taking out the phone.
The same call also appears in the list inside the app, in order of arrival, with the type of call (Call the Waiter or Bill) and the elapsed time.
What Triggers an Alert
- A guest touching the call button after scanning the table code
- A guest asking for the bill
- The kitchen announcing that a dish is ready for delivery
Setting Up Wearable Alerts
- Install the iResWaiter app on the waiter’s Android phone.
- Pair the smartwatch or bracelet with the phone by Bluetooth.
- Make sure notifications from the app are allowed on the phone and shown on the watch.
- Choose in the app Settings whether the phone should ring, vibrate or stay silent.
- Run a test call from the demo or from a table tag.
Tips for Best Results
- Charge watches before each shift, and keep chargers at the staff area.
- Use vibration on the watch and silent mode on the phone in quiet restaurants.
- Check notification settings after any phone update.
- Keep the phone in range, since the watch relies on the Bluetooth connection.
Is a Smartwatch Required?
No. Many venues use only the phone, or a tablet at the bar. A smartwatch is an optional extra for teams that move fast, work large areas or work in noisy places. See how it fits in our guide to bars, terraces and clubs.
